Craving for some creamy cheese tarts that’s been widely popular across Asia? Learn to bake them at home with this Hokkaido Cheese Tart recipe!
Crust Ingredients:
- 100g Margarine + Butter
- 50g Powdered Sugar
- 1 Egg Yolk
- 20g Milk Powder
- 210g of medium protein flour
Directions:
- Preheat the Oven to 170°C
- Beat Margarine, Butter, Powdered Sugar and Egg Yolk for about 2-3 minutes
- Add Powdered Milk and Flour, mix well
- Prepare a pie mold and spread the surface with Margarine
- Take 30g of dough, print and pierce the bottom of the pie with a fork
- Bake for about 20 minutes
Cheese Tart Ingredients:
- 120g UHT Milk
- 40g Sugar
- 9g Cornstarch
- 1 Egg
- 1 Egg Yolk (beaten)
- 100g Cream Cheese
- A pinch of Salt
- Vanilla Extract
Directions:
- Cook the UHT Milk with Sugar over fire until the Sugar is dissolved
- Add the Eggs and Cornstarch
- Using a whisk, mix a little warm UHT Milk in a separate bowl first before pouring the remaining into a pan
- Stir well until thickened
- Add Cream Cheese, Salt, Vanilla Extract
- Stir until Cream Cheese dissolves and the texture is soft
- Turn off the fire
- Pipe the mixture onto the pie crust
- Smear a layer of egg yolk on the surface of the tart
- Bake at 200°C until the surface turns brown
